When thinking about power, I looked at theorists and their theories on power; Alvin Toffler in particular who states that there are three kinds of power: violence, wealth and knowledge.
I looked at speech radio;London’s Biggest Conversation (LBC) in particular. Listening to some of the radio shows made me realise that it is sometimes better to listen to people talk and discuss particular issues especially ones that tell stories about them or others as I feel that we as people are inquisitive and want to know about other people’s lives.
I also looked at recent television shows such as When Women ruled the world. The program is a gender experiment in which ten men and eight women are put one an island where women rule and men obey with the last man standing winning £30,000.
This programmed reminds me of the Milgram’s Obedience experiment (1963) and Zimbardo’s study of prisoners and guards in a stimulated prison (1973). For me the programmed illustrates several findings of both studies such how people act and behave when they are given total control and power.
