Michael Wesch, a professor of cultural anthropology at Kansas State University in Manhattan explores ‘the impact of new media on society and culture’. Wesch and his students created the video below; “A Vision of Today’s Student” is a fascinating and engaging documentary about what the student of today in this society where social networking sites and mobile phones are dominant. It also highlights the change of the student experience and to me the video truly reflects students of today.
· The stylistics of the video is simplistic but very effective which enables it to illustrate the disjunction between university (student) life and real life.
· The topicality was good and I felt that it was covered and portrayed well because of its simplistic.
(Note to self: Simplicity can be good and better at connecting and engaging with an audience)
