Creating these artefacts unquestionably been a learning curve. With the audio piece I produced for power, I became attached to it which made editing difficult as I wanted the audience to enjoy it as much as I did. I also learned from the first experimental ones that I did on around my area which directed me to conduct the interview in a college instead. I also learnt how to write questions suited for people you aim to interview on the streets i.e. making the questions open and encouraging discussion from their responses. Though there are a few sound issues with the final artefact, I feel that it is interesting an engaging.
From creating this piece, I started thinking about how I could develop what I have produced. I came up with an idea for a radio chat show which will discuss current affairs with youths, getting their opinion on the issues and if it affects them. I would also like to have a section for relationship and advice which I think will be interesting as it would give audiences an insight into teenage relationships could be beneficial to the audience as well as the youths. This derived from hearing the conversation between a girl and her friends about her relationship. Further details about this conversation can be found on the first section of listening to others. I would also like to incorporate games and quizzes and vox pops which I have to work on.
I learnt the biggest lesson from doing my spectacle due to the fact that it is a complete disaster that does not reflect the effort and time I put into it. I should have had a Plan B for this piece as even though I thought about it properly I don’t feel that I researched into it as I did with memory and power. I wish that I had enough time to fully explore and research into it more as I struggled to come up with the idea. In the future I would definitely make sure I carry out enough research into my topic area and without fail have a Plan B if the first one does not work.
Creating the memory artefact was enjoyable as well as emotional as I felt passionate about the message I wanted to convey which had a strong connection to my recent bereavements. Some of the pictures could be better photographically but I feel that it is a good effort as a starting point if I decide to look into this area further.
Overall I feel that I have produced decent artefacts that reflect the three themes in some aspects. I am pleased with all three artefacts and even though my piece on spectacle was a total disaster I learnt a huge lesson from it.
